Founders

Innovative Imaging Inc. was founded in 1988 by Rainer Nikel and Susan Lindgren-Nikel. The I³SYSTEM-ABD™ represents a culmination of 20 years of design expertise. Rainer's goal has always been to produce the finest B-scan image possible. Mr. Nikel, Founder of Innovative Imaging, has been an electro-mechanical engineer since the mid 1970's. He was a member of the original design team at Xenotec, Ltd., the Maryland based ophthalmic ultrasound manufacturer which produced the Ultrascan® 404. Following the acquisition of Xenotec by Cooper, Mr. Nikel remained in the ultrasound industry working as a private consultant and as a developer of ophthalmic and intraoperative ultrasound technologies.

In 1990 Cynthia Kendall, BMET, joined the venture as Director of Marketing. Cynthia has a degree in biomedical engineering technology. Beginning with Xenotec in 1980, then Cooper in 1981, and Biophysic in 1986, she has been a field service technician, applications specialist, and product manager. She is the author of a textbook entitled Ophthalmic Echography published by SLACK, Inc. In the foreword, Yale Fisher, MD, of New York City wrote: "I can recommend this book without reservation to all those interested in the field." Cynthia is also an accredited instructor on the subject and conducts courses for both physicians and technicians throughout the world.

The evidence of commitment and dedication may be seen in both the quality of diagnostic images produced by the I³SYSTEM-ABD™ as well as service and clinical training support provided by the entire staff.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is a simple one: help physicians serve their patients.
By producing the highest quality image, the physician is provided with significantly useful details regarding the condition of ocular structures. This technical accomplishment is combined with dedicated clinical applications training by qualified echographers.

In the hectic years of medical training, it can be hard to take time to learn systematic exam techniques for A/B-scan. Once established in practice, however, the physician and staff can take advantage of in-office training. It takes very little time to learn a standardized exam method to assure a complete examination of the eye. Just as an indirect ophthalmoscopy exam has a routine, so should diagnostic B-scan.

Innovative Imaging Inc. provides training in systematic exam techniques. From observing many of the world's masters, Cynthia Kendall and her clinical application specialists have learned the best from the best and are prepared to share this knowledge with all who wish to learn. Uniform exam and labeling techniques combined with a physician's medical knowledge produce a powerful diagnostic tool.
